Stained Plastic is a contemporary translation of stained glass design. Through stained glass, people can appreciate not only aesthetic beauty but witness the narratives of their era. Inspired by its storytelling property—and as a designer raised in a plastic world within smartphone religion—I reinterpret stained glass into a monument of today. In visualizing the sublime qualities of spectacular visual phenomena across a flat surface, I incorporate my interpretation of today’s visual language into the design. The outcome reflects the binary communication system of the digital world, such as “0-dark-flat” and “1-light-spectacle.”
